County Facts
Denver’s strong agricultural economy may not have been possible were it not for the early farmers who settled in Adams County, which was originally part of Arapahoe County. Adams County has plenty of tourist attractions such as biking and hiking trails, open space and parks, and the Adams County Fair.
History
Residents voted in approval of creating Adams County in 1902. The county was named after Governor Alva Adams, who was in office at the time. In 1904, the city of Brighton was chosen as the county seat and became the home of what is today’s Brighton City Hall.
Economy
Adams County is the fastest growing county in the metro Denver area. It is also one of the top five largest counties in the state. With a population of nearly 450,000, Adams County has a diverse work force, a professional business climate and a wide range of community amenities and housing opportunities. Residents in Adams County enjoy a high quality of life.
Recreation
Adams County has four public trails and 10 parks for residents and tourists who love the outdoors. There’s the South Platte, Clear Creek, Niver Canal and Little Dry Creek Trails, as well as the City View Park, Rotella Park, Twin Lakes Park and Steele Street Park, to name a few.
